I started watching Romeo × Juliet last weekend, and it has more WAFFles than IHOP. It's not the type of anime I normally watch, but there's something about it that's keeping me interested. I'm not sure what it is yet, though.

I have a new favorite anime: Claymore. I started downloading it from Eclipse Productions last Sunday after reading about it at ANN, and I watched the 22 available episodes in five days. I love so many things about it, not least of which is the fact that most of the characters are powerful, sword-wielding women who don't have abnormally large breasts and aren't dressed like prostitutes. The next episode will be airing in Japan on Tuesday, so Eclipse should have it available on Wednesday. In the meantime, I created a community, claymoreanime, and I have an idea for a short fic.

I took a baby step towards becoming a prolific fic author by publishing "To Be a Samurai" at the Pit of Voles.

When did you first start reading/writing fanfiction?	I started writing it when I was about eight years old, before I knew there was a term for what I was doing, and I started reading it when I was 18 and got my first Internet-accessible PC.

What do you think of Fanfiction.net?	It's crap chute, but I find myself there anyway.
What fandoms have you written in?	As far as I remember, I've written/dabbled in Zelda, Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Dragonball Z, Sailor Moon (Can you tell I started watching anime on Toonami?), Sorcerer Hunters, Yu-Gi-Oh! (very briefly), Skies of Arcadia, and Samurai 7.

Do the number of reviews tell how good a story is?	Quality is better than quantity.

“There’s no place for samurai in the world anymore,” the man muttered before he tipped his cup of warm sake to his mouth and drained it. Katsushiro sighed inwardly. It was the same excuse his father always used to justify his excessive drinking. It had been three years since the Great War had ended, and his father’s skills as a warrior hadn’t been needed in almost as long. Katsushiro thought about leaving without a word and returning after his father had drunk himself to sleep, but he decided to finally speak his mind:

“A true samurai wouldn’t give up so easily.”

“Fool!” his father spat. He slammed his cup down and knocked over the short table as he stood. Katsushiro braced for a hand across his jaw, but instead, his father went to the corner of the small room and grabbed his dusty katana from where it was propped against the wall. Katsushiro’s eyes widened, but before he could react further, his father thrust the sheathed sword at him.

“Since you think it’s so easy to be a samurai, be one!”

Katsushiro stared at his father.

“Take it and leave!” his father growled.

Katsushiro did, and he never returned.
